| Description: | Richard Bridges, Regents Professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences will deliver a lecture titled "From Test Tube to the Brain, the Serendipitous Nature of Neurochemistry." Bridges uses chemically synthesized drugs to probe the pharmacological specificity and physiological roles of membrane transport proteins in the brain and spinal cord. His research has shed light on central nervous system diseases such as Lou Gehrig's and Alzheimer's as well as central nervous system insults such as stroke, injury, brain tumors, viral infection and drug addiction.
